Diagnosing foot and ankle conditions
Your orthopedist or orthopedic surgeon will take a complete medical history and perform a physical examination in order to understand more about the problem or pain you are experiencing. A gait analysis may be conducted along with any combination of the following imaging exams:
- Computed tomography scan (CT or CAT)
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
Surgical treatment options
Surgical treatment is considered when nonsurgical treatment does not work. The choice of surgery is dependent on the type of arthritis/damage, impact of the disease on the joints and location. Two common procedures we perform on the ankle, as a part of our joint care program, include:
- Ankle fusion (arthrodesis): A procedure done when the ankle joint becomes worn out and painful, or degenerative.
- Arthroplasty: A procedure that replaces the affected joint.
At the Rose Orthopedic & Spine Center, our expert surgeons are able to diagnose and provide each patient the right treatment for their condition. All joint-related and orthopedic surgeries are performed with great precision, using the latest in technology and medical implants.
