A Commitment to Providing Extra Support During Childbirth
Every birth is special, and each expectant mother has her own birth wishes. Some of these plans may include a working with an experienced doula.
Deciding to work with a doula means that you will have an advocate by your side during the childbirth process. Although you have taken a great deal of time to prepare for the big day, once the process begins, you will likely have more questions—ones that you didn't think to ask before. A birth doula can help answer these questions and provide support throughout the process.
That’s why at Rose Medical Center in Denver, we are proud to offer the Doula Connection program, a staff of hand-selected, deeply experienced birth doulas who are fully incorporated into the Rose Labor & Delivery team of caregivers. Rose Doulas are available to laboring moms 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are available for a reduced flat fee — the only hospital in Denver to offer this level of doula support to expectant parents. Our doulas use their experience to provide emotional and physical support during one of the most amazing times in life, not taking the place of mom’s birth partner but adding to her support team.
“I can't recommend the Rose Doula program enough. For a couple who was so new to the process of having a baby, our doula was such an integral part of us having a positive birth experience.”
- Kristin, mother of a Rose Baby and Rose Doula patient
Rose birth doulas are passionate about what they do! Their passion has lead them to this career and through education and support they help women learn more about childbirth and empower them to have the type of birth experience that they desire.
Selecting a Doula
Once we understand your needs and your birth wishes, you choose your doula or we can help you choose one. Rose holds a free monthly doula seminar where parents have the opportunity to meet doulas in person, and this is a great opportunity to identify your doula. Our doulas also have online profiles describing their histories and philosophies and many parents choose their doula that way.
Working with Your Doula
Once you choose your doula, you will have an extensive opportunity to get to know each other, including consultation about your upcoming birth experience, your vision for your doula's role, and anything else you’d like the doula to be aware of. Following that discussion, which may be over the phone or in person, you will be more than welcome to text, email or call your doula with any questions as you count down to your due date. Our team wants to understand your needs so we can best meet them!
On the day of delivery, your Rose Doula will meet you at the hospital within one hour of notification, and then she can be by your side for up to ten hours of labor, delivery and postpartum recovery.
