Rose Advanced Wound Care is led by a team consisting of surgical podiatrists and endovascular specialists (vascular surgery, interventional radiology, and/or interventional cardiology) with advanced training in procedures to save patients from major amputations. This specialized team allows for rapid vascular and podiatric opinions regarding the aggressive treatment of infections, response to emergencies, and performance of urgent investigations and wound debridement.

Eric Jaakola, DPM

After graduating from the North Colorado Podiatric Surgical Residency in Greeley, CO, in 2004, Dr. Jaakola joined the Diabetic Foot and Wound Center where he treats a wide range of foot and ankle maladies.

Dr. O'Brien

Richard O'Brien, MD

Medical Director
Hyperbaric Medicine

Dr. O’Brien received his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and later completed a pulmonary fellowship at Boston University Medical Center. He is certified in hyperbaric oxygen therapy through the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.


Anna K. Weber, DPM

Panel Physician

Dr. Weber trained in Colorado and practiced in Chicago before returning to Denver in 2010. Dr. Weber specializes in conservative and surgical treatment options for adult foot and ankle problems, as well as in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric deformities.


Eugene M. Rosenthall, DPM

Panel Physician

Dr. Rosenthall received his doctorate in podiatric medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, then completed surgical podiatric residency at Peninsula Hospital Center, New York. Born and raised in Denver, he returned in 2004 to practice podiatric medicine and surgery.


Carol M. Reid, MD

ENT & Plastic Surgery

As a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon and board-certified ENT, Dr. Reid treats patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy and patients with chronic non-healing wounds. She holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and Oregon Health Sciences University.


Sameer K. Mehta, MD

Interventional Cardiology

With fellowships and board certification in cardiology and interventional cardiology, Dr. Mehta treats diseases like peripheral vascular disease (PVD) that can contribute to chronic lower-extremity wounds. In 2015, he was named a "Top Doc" by his physician peers in 5280 magazine.


Michael A. Cooper, MD

A native of Nebraska, Dr. Cooper has practiced in Colorado since 1992 and has been recognized as a "Top Doc" by fellow doctors in 5280 magazine several years in a row. Dr. Cooper has done extensive research and has contributed to many publications in regards to peripheral vascular surgery. 


John H. Hammer, MD

Infectious Disease

Dr. Hammer consults with APC physicians on infections that complicate the healing of chronic wounds. He also treats patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Dr. Hammer completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
