Gestational Diabetes Education

The Rose Diabetes Center offers a 3-part educational series for mothers with gestational diabetes.

The first class is a two-hour session offered two or more times weekly. This class includes:

  • Consistent carbohydrate meal planning
  • Measuring blood glucose with a glucometer
  • Understanding target blood sugar levels before and after meals
  • Keeping records for the physician

The second class is a one-hour follow up schedule one or two weeks after the first class to review blood sugar and meal intake records, and to make any needed adjustments.

The third and final class is a post-partum session designed to take actions possible to reduce the risk of Type 2 Diabetes through active lifestyle, meal plan management and weight loss strategies.
